Roleplaying christmas

Merry christmas or happy holidays or whatever...

Frispel* has written a free form scenario called Dan före dan, about a group of lonely men the day before christmas. It looks very promising and also mentiones my brother in roleplaying Sven.

Get it here*. If you know Swedish, that is...

He sent me a somewhat earlier version game a few weeks ago. I definitely feel like playing it. I think that scene 2 is the critical scene. This will be very good with a group that gets it goig, but can probably also fail on an uninspired day.

But the characters, the way they all connect to the theme and especially the quite unusual scene 3 I like very much.

But I think it should be played with at least one experienced player, since scene three requiers a certain knowledge of traditional roleplaying.

I played this scenario at JulKon a couple of weeks ago up here in Umeå, and I gotta tell you: It almost ruined my christmas. I spent like the entire 23rd of December thinking about the poor, lonely men in the story. Don't get me wrong, it totally rocked (probably a lot because of the awesome guys and girl I played with, even though the scenario in itself is of course a big part of the equation too) and I had a great time. But christ, I played through the bigger part of it fighting off the tears welling up in my eyes. Especially the "flashback" scenes (that's scene two, right?) where abusive fathers repressing children and wives seemed to become the dominant theme.

I'm rambling a bit, but then again the whole point of this comment was to just tell you what a great time I had. And yeah, as I said my christmas did kind of become wrapped in this aura of melancholy but it was totally worth it.
